5 Ways to Thank Your Clients This Holiday Season

by | Nov 16, 2021

The holidays are right around the corner, and 2022 is not far behind! Take this time to plan new goals, reflect on the past year, and thank your clients for their support. Showing your appreciation to clients can help build rapport and long lasting relationships. Taking the time to thank your clients is an important part of the customer experience. Here are some ways you can show your appreciation to clients this holiday season:

Make a donation in their name

Tis’ the season to give back to your community! Make a lasting impression with your clients by donating to an organization near and dear to their hearts’. This could be a local non-profit or an institution known nationwide. Showing your clients you care about what is important to them will go a long way in building your professional relationships.

Finding industry-specific organizations that your clients love would be a great place to start. Are they passionate about sports? Do they have an interest in education? Many nonprofit organizations, like Create A Loop, are directly related to industry-specific causes. Create A Loop’s mission is to bring computer-science learning to students around the St. Louis metropolitan area who otherwise would have little to no access to this field of study.

Send a handwritten card

We all know we’re in the age of technology – Emails, texts and direct messages are not going away anytime soon. Due to the influx of electronic messages, a handwritten card can go a long way with your clients. This thoughtful gesture can save you time and money during the busy holiday season.

If you are purchasing holiday cards in bulk, try personalizing them by writing a short note to your top clients expressing your gratitude and well wishes. A short amount of time can make a huge impact on your clients. You can go a step further and include a personal photo, or an inside joke that will make them smile. Thoughtfulness is the key to success!

Be a thought leader

What better way to show your clients you appreciate them by understanding the ins and outs of their business. It’s important that your clients recognize you as their preferred, trusted advisor.

How can you become a thought leader? There are a few simple steps you can take to become a thought leader for your clients. First and foremost, immerse yourself in your client’s business. Start looking at things from their perspective and dig into their world. Educate yourself on their business opportunities, threats, and strengths.

Another great way to be a thought leader is to send updated, relevant content to your clients. Follow news sources and blogs to stay up to date on the latest industry news. Find something that your clients would enjoy? Send it to them in personalized email or bring it up at your next meeting. If you’ve recently read a book you think they will enjoy, send a copy of the book to  them with a personalized note on the inside cover.

Schedule a video call

This time of year, the term “busy” can be an understatement. If you can’t find time to meet with your clients in person, try scheduling a video call instead. This way, you still get to interact face-to-face without all of the hassle of an in-person meeting.

Schedule a time to talk about their 2022 plans, and any predictions you foresee in the near future. Want to stand out even more to your clients? Host a virtual happy hour (and send them a gift card to purchase their favorite beverage) while you discuss goals and holiday plans.

Create a personalized gift

Last but not least, send your clients a special gift to show your thanks. Think outside of the box and focus on what would really ‘wow’ your client. Here are some examples:

  • Baked goods from their favorite local eatery
  • Baked goods local to your area that they can’t easily access
  • A piece of artwork they can hang in their office
  • Flower arrangements or plants
  • Tickets to see their favorite sports team or performer
